Kazan State Medical University expresses deepest sympathy and understanding to Japanese people, who are going through the very heavy tragedy nowadays. We mourn for the victims and sincere experience for all affected by this tragedy. The Russian Union of Rectors appealed to all higher education institutions of the country for help in collecting donations for the people of Japan.

The 22nd edition of The Amsterdam International Medical Summer School starts. In 2011 two courses will be presented, organized by the Academic Medical Center University of Amsterdam (AMC-UvA):

  • Molecular Pathways in Cancer, initiation, maintenance and therapy (July 3 — 29)
  • Bridging health care with IT (July 3-15)

These courses are expecially for advanced students in medicine, biology, oncology and health sciences with knowledge of biomedical and clinical sciences, as well as recent graduates

Universiade 2013

On 11th of February was a ceremonial signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the National Organization "Executive Directorate of the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan" and Kazan State Medical University.

Collaboration involves the participation of students and staff of KSMU in volunteer program of the Universiade 2013 in Kazan.

The winners of the competition for grants of President of the Russian Federation

Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation identified 460 winners for the right of being granted by the President of the Russian Federation for the state support for the young Russian scientists. Ten young scientists from Tatarstan are among them and five of them are the faculties from KSMU. The competition was attended by PhDs under 35 years and a Doctors of Science and 40 years.

The young scientists of KSMU are the finalists of the contest "The Best Young Scientist of the Republic of Tatarstan – 2010”.

Five young scientists of KSMU are the finalists of the contest "The Best Young Scientist of the Republic of Tatarstan 2010".

On the 7th of February in the assembly hall of the Kazan Federal University were awarded the winners of the Republican contest "The Best Young Scientist of the Republic of Tatarstan 2010". The competition was held by the Council of the young scientists and specialists with the participation of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan. Among the 38 finalists, whose scientific work was presented to the jury by scientific societies of the universities and scientific institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan (in Kazan, Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk). Among the winners are PhDs under 35 years and Doctors of Science under 40 years. The solemn ceremony was attended by the rectors of Kazan main universities, representatives from ministries, the Academy of Sciences and Kazan Science Centre.

Five young scientists from KSMU were among the finalists in the category of "Best young scientist in the field of natural sciences":

  • 1. Ildus Akhmetov, the senior researcher of the Central Research Laboratory;
  • 2. Izmailov, Alexander, the assistant of the Department of General Surgery;
  • 3. Nurmeev Ildar, the assistant of the Department of Pediatric Surgery;
  • 4. Rilova Natalia, the Associate Professor of the Department of Hospital Pediatrics;
  • 5. Fatikhov Ruslan, the assistant of the Department of General Surgery.

The solemn ceremony was attended by the Rector of Kazan State Medical University, Professor Alex S. Sozinov. He made a welcome speech, congratulated the winners and awarded the winners by diplomas and prizes. The ceremony was also attended by the representatives of the Council of Young Scientists of KSMU: Nail Akramov — the winner of the contest "The best young scientist 2009” the Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery and Marat Mukhamedyarov – The Associate Professor of Physiology, deputy chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists.

Internships in Germany

Starts the accepting of applications for participation in a joint scholarship program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The competition is open to graduate students, young scientists under 35 years and teachers of all specialties under 45 years. Assistance will be given for research in Germany in the 2011-2012 academic year. Duration of study (internship) — from 1 to 3 months. The internship starts not earlier than June 1, 2011 and ends not later than January 31, 2012. Applicants must be proficient in English or German at a level sufficient to communicate with their German colleagues on scientific subjects (language certificate required).

200th Anniversary of KSMU

At the meeting of the Academic Council of KSMU (24th of September, 2010) approved the Regulations of organizing the contest of ideas for celebrating the 200th anniversary of KSMU.

The goal of the contest: To promote scientific and educational community, faculty, staff, students, alumni of KSMU to participate in the preparation of the 200th anniversary of KSMU, to grow qualitatively and quantitatively number of publications about the history of KSMU, to develop anniversary symbols. KSMU invites everyone to participate in the contest of ideas, projects, scientific and popular books, albums devoted to the history of KSMU, Kazan medical school and its outstanding representatives. Applications filed in accordance with the Regulations of the contest are accepted until December 15th, 2010.

International Student Medical Congress in Kosice

The registration for the 3rd International Student Medical Congress (21th-24th of June, 2011 in Kosice, Slovakia), supported by the World Health Organization and the International Federation of Medical Students was started. Medical students, interns, residents, graduate students and young scientists are invited to participate.

On November 25, 2010 Kazan State Medical University signed the agreement of cooperation in education withthe company METRO KINGSWAY SDN. BHD. This company is mandated by the Government of the Malaysia Kingdom  to recruit students for study in KSMU.


 

The agreement was signed by Rector of Kazan State Medical University, professor AS Sozinov and director of METRO KINGSWAY SDN. BHD Mr. Dato Mohd Khalis Bin Ali Hassan (DATO MOHD KHALIS BIN ALI HASAN), who was the Malaysian Ambassador in Russia for the past five years.

In accordance of this contract KSMU will admit five Malaysian students as the first group to study already in this academic year.

Marilyn Telen, professor of Duke University, USA, will visit Kazan State Medical University on 17th-19th  of  November.

The program of her visit consists of visiting the department of hospital therapy, as well as reading lectures. Professor’s lectures will be in Conference Room of Academic Council in the main academic building on 19th of November.

Tatarstan Government grant “Algarysh” announced.

Undergraduate and graduate students, young scientists, faculty of universities can participate in the competition. Tatarstan Ministry of Education and Science has announced beginning of collecting applications for Tatarstan Government grant for training, re-training and internships at leading Russian and foreign educational and scientific organizations.

We are pleased to announce that the International Summer Interships Program for medical student for 2011 under the auspices of IFMSA – International Federation of Medical Students’ Association. Deadline for application: December 1, 2010.

The application should include:

  • 1 IFMSA Application Form (available at GUK, on 3 floor);
  • A copy of all pages of student's record book
  • Results of English Language placement test;
  • A copy of passport;

Mr. Gunnar Nerlih - manager-consultant of HBS-Consulting GmbH visited Kazan State Medical University on December the 1, 2009. He had been in Kazan on probation as part of the State Plan of training managers for organization national economy of Russia. This is the first pilot projects for German specialists to study the business climate of Tatarstan and the possibilities of organization bilateral projects. The main interest of Mr. Gyunnar Nerlih was establishing new contacts with educational medical institutions and health care establishments to identify areas of possible bilateral cooperation. Mr. Gyunnar Nerlih met the rector of KSMU, Professor A.S. Sozinov and university administration, visited the museum, the Center of practical skills, pharmaceutical department and anatomical theater of KSMU in a short visit.

Representatives of international organization PRIME (Partnerships of International Medical Education) — Michael Davis, Francis Dugan and Emma Hayward visited Kazan State Medical University on 16-20 November 2009. They represent the Medical School of the Leicester University (UK). The guests held the classes on "Communication skills in clinical education" for teachers and gave an open lecture both for students and teachers of KSMU entitled "Human Medicine in general". PRIME staff met the rector of KSMU, Professor Sozinov to discuss the mutual areas of further cooperation. Professor of Yale University Majid Sadigh conducted sessions on biostatistics, infectious diseases, including influenza virus H1N1, and on Global Medicine. The rector of KSMU and International Center discussed the future directions of collaboration between KSMU and Yale University.

On 11th of May 2010 KSMU Rector Professor A. Sozinov received delegation of Nova Southeastern University (USA) — Heidi Lane and Beth Ipock, who visited Kazan to participate in the Interregional Theoretical and Practical Conference "Perspective directions in improving the teaching of practical skills in medical school". American collegues who are experts in the student's training program "Standardized Patient" holded master classes in conducting practical classes and examinations for this innovative technology.

The guests visited Kazan to participate in the Interregional Theoretical and Practical Conference "Perspective directions in improving the teaching of practical skills in medical school", conducted as part of the Assembly Day of the KSMU.

On the 27 of September 2010 Professor Sozinov — Rector of KSMU, had a meeting with Anthony Kolih — the director of Fulbright Program in Russia and Michaella Iovin — the officer of Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in U.S. State Department. Both sides expressed mutual interest in continuing and expanding Fulbright Programs in Russia and increasing contacts between teachers, staff and students of KSMU with their American counterparts. After the meeting with the Rector American delegates visited the Center of International Education and Cooperation of KSMU.
