GENERAL MEDICINE FACULTY
Historically the first and the largest faculty of KSMU, for many years remained the only Faculty of Kazan Imperial University. The Faculty was established in May 1814.
The Medical Faculty trains specialists of three main specialities: Therapy, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology. The graduates of the Medical Faculty can continue their education through internship and residency programs and can get narrow specialization, and to work in all fields of medicine.
The education period for "General Medicine" is 6 years. The first two years students study the natural sciences, mathematics and bio-medical disciplines which serve as a basis in the formation of clinical thinking. Beginning from the third year students start studying semiotics of internal diseases, general surgery, pathological anatomy and pathological physiology. The 4th -6th years of study are devoted to mastering clinical disciplines: surgery, therapy, pediatric diseases, obstetrics and gynecology and other disciplined. The graduates complete their higher medical education by specialization (internship) in clinics with modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. The teaching process is organized on the basis of the best medical institutions of the Republic.
