CENTER OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION & COOPERATION

One of the main activities of the university is the development of the international relations which helps establish the international status of the university, strengthen mutually beneficial relationships with academic, scientific and medical organizations of other countries, as well the integration of the university in the international system of higher medical education and medical help.

Kazan Medical University is an active participant of international projects, the organizer of international congresses and conferences, a partner of many American, European and Asian Universities.

10% of the students of KSMU — are citizens of foreign countries. The university has students from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Germany, India, Jordan, Iraq, Canada, Congo, Lebanon, Morocco, Mozambique, Pakistan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, Sweden, Uzbekistan, the Republic of Chad, etc. Our graduates work as doctors in the United States of America, France, Germany, India, Pakistan and many other countries.

During last years the university actively participated in the international projects IREX — USAID and TEMPUS. The professors and chief residents from Yale University are coming each year to give lectures in "evidence-based medicine".

The most significant international projects that are being implemented today:

  • The project of development of medical education and new medical technologies in collaboration with the Medical School of Yale University (USA, since 1994).
  • The project "Modernizing Russian Social Work Education and Teaching" supported by the TEMPUS IV grant program for the period 2009-2011.
  • The project aimed at developming academic mobility of medical students through the programs of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA). Since 1995 we are the member of International Association of Medical Students (IFMSA) and our fourth-sixth year students have their summer practice in Europe, Africa and Latin America.
  • A collaborative project on development and implementation of the "Standardized patient" teaching methodology together with the Universities of USA
  • The project "Patient Centered Medicine" in collaboration with the organization PRIME (Partnership in International Medical Education) together with the staff of Medical Schools of Universities of London, Bristol, South Africa.
  • The projects in conducting clinical trials of drug substances according to more than 50 international contracts.

The priority in international medical education in recent years has been the development of training programs of foreign students in English language.

OUR MISSION is increasing representation of foreign countries in Kazan State Medical University and raising the role and prestige of KSMU on the international medical and educational space.

OUR AIM is to achieve the rate 15-18% of international students among all learners in KSMU. At present the portion of international students is 10%.

The Centre of International Education and Cooperation (CIEC) has two departments: Department of International Education and Department of International Cooperation.
